Week 3, Thing 6

Played around with Flickr toys. Warholized a photo of Peter Fletcher. Not sure Peter would appreciate it though. I'm not sure I still get mashups. Tried the more than Maps thing but couldn't get it to do anything. I did set up a Flickr account and upload some of my garden photos. Chose tags, hid my real name and e-mail address. Does anyone else feel threatened putting that kind of info on the internet?

Week 3, Thing 5

Have taken the Flickr tour. Who knew this was out there? Looks like fun. Haven't signed up for a free account but will. Amazing how such tools put us immediately into global contact with others who may or may not be of like mind.

Week 2, Thing 4

The blog is registered. Very cool.

Week 2, Thing 3

Ok, here be the blog. The perfectionist in me is coming out. I fret over which template, which colors, which font, and on and on. Just doesn't matter. It's doing it that counts this time. I must add some more page elements though. What to add? Possible uses for a blog? Hey, we already have a WPL programming blog. I love it that staff are actually using it too. Blogs, they be fun and good. More to come...

Week 1, Thing 2

Lifelong learning. This is the key to personal and professional satisfaction. Of the 7 1/2 Habits, the hardest for me is the one I most enjoy doing: teaching/mentoring others. It's a time issue, partly, but also there's so much to learn/teach that it's hard to know where to start. Maybe that's really Habit 1: Begin with the end in mind. What's the goal of this learning? The easiest habit for me is Habit 2: Accept responsibility for your own learning. It's just something I do instinctively. If I'm not learning something new, I feel as if I'm just spinning my wheels doing routine stuff that's not particularly interesting. Habit 7 1/2 is the one to remember: learning should be and is fun!

Week 1, Thing 1

Finally getting to this after weeks of anticipation. So little time for learning, it seems. Make time for learning needs to be our mandate. Otherwise, what's the point? This 23 Things will be worth making time for. What fun!
